Guided ice bath sessions in Surrey, run at Divers Cove in Godstone.
A proper cold plunge, a hot sauna by the lake, and a coach on hand who actually knows what he’s doing, not a wheelie bin of cold water in a car park or an ineffective inflatable in the garden.
Sessions run from Friday to Sunday and are pre-booked.

Why People Love It
"Beautiful peaceful setting and the sauna is top-notch. Came for a cold plunge and stayed for the calm." – Tripadvisor
“Incredible community and safe wild swimming. Love the sauna after!” – r/surrey
Local Tip: After your swim, grab a healthy bite at The Green Rooms or a drink from The Whyte Hart in Bletchingley.
If you recognise yourself in any of that, this is for you.
The cold doesn’t care how senior you are. It puts you back in your body for ten minutes and quiets the noise in a way nothing else quite manages.
You don’t need to be fit, hard, or into wellness
You don’t have to be an athlete. You don’t have to have done one before. You don’t need to own any kit. Plenty of people who come have spent years avoiding the gym and mistrust anything that smells like a retreat.
That’s fine. The door in here is physical, not therapeutic.
You get cold, you breathe, your nervous system does the rest.
The sauna
You start warm. The sauna sits by the lake and gets properly hot. This isn’t a token cabin; it loosens you off, opens everything up, and gets your body ready for the cold, so the plunge works with you instead of flooring you.
The ice barrel
Then the ice. Cool off and cleanse momentarily with a dip in the lake before you drop into the barrel, and I'll talk you through the breathing, slow out-breath, no panic, no thrashing.
The first thirty seconds are loud. After that, it goes quiet, and that quiet is the whole point. That’s the bit you can’t get from your phone.
The swim
Lastly, a swim in the lake, if you want it. Open water, sky above you, nobody needing anything from you. Most men get out of the water having not thought about work for the first time in days.
Anyone can buy a blow-up ice bath or vessel and a bag of ice.
The reason people stop doing it alone is simple: cold is unpleasant, your brain talks you out of it, and there’s nobody there to hold the line.
Coached, you go further, you stay safer, and you actually keep going week to week.
Breathing technique matters. Cold-water safety matters. Knowing when to get out matters. That’s the job.
I’m a certified cold water therapy instructor and a trained open-water lifeguard. The sessions are insured. You’re not a liability, you’re managing on your own, you’ve got someone whose only job in that moment is you.
Feedback from clients and past visitors is that you'll find it encouraging, supportive and you'll be more likely to stay in there longer.
Sessions run at Divers Cove, North Park Lane, Godstone, Surrey, RH9 8ND. A lake with a sauna, a few minutes off the M25 at junction 6 and easy from most of East Surrey.
Getting here
Easy reach from Caterham, Oxted, Redhill, Reigate, Lingfield, Warlingham and East Grinstead. Caterham station is the nearest mainline stop (Zone 6), and South Godstone is on the Redhill–Tonbridge line. Plenty of parking on site. If you commute into London, it’s a clean detour on the way home rather than another thing to drive miles for.
With free on-site parking and easy access from the M25.
If the SAT Nav is having trouble directing you to Divers Cove, especially because of the sinkhole or the private HGV road, the best thing to do is to program for the Orpheus Centre. Then take a right at the orange barriers about 300 m up North Park lane.
From here, head about 100 m up the road and turn right into the divers' cove car park.

No. Most people who come have never done one. You’re coached through the breathing and the safety the whole way. If you’re brand new, the monthly Intro to Cold Water Therapy session is the easiest place to start.
Coached and screened, it’s safe for most healthy adults. You fill in a short health questionnaire before your first session, the instructor is a trained open-water lifeguard, and the sessions are insured. If you have a heart condition or you’re pregnant, speak to your GP first.
Usually one to three minutes in the barrel, repeated across the session with sauna rounds in between. You’re never pushed past what’s safe, the coaching is about getting the benefit, not winning a competition.
Swimwear, a towel, and something warm and easy to put on afterwards. A pair of neoprene boots or gloves helps. Everything else is on site.
There are numerous benefits of a regular practice, with sessions tailored to your needs and abilities, however, there are some health conditions that contraindicate this, as such we recommend you seek guidance from your doctor or healthcare team if you have, or are experiencing:
